School News

Kids for Kids Concert
Tonight our choir is performing with other Franklin school choirs at Suzanne Prentice's Kids for Kids Concert.  Our choir has been training very hard over the term in preparation for tonight and we wish them all the very best for their performance at Pukekohe Town Hall.

White Out Daywhole school in white cheers on All Whites

It was fantastic to see so many of our students dress up in white to support the All Whites.  It obviously worked with a great result for the boys this morning.  The self belief the All Whites have is inspirational and a great role model to our children.  The photos included are from our tabloids on Friday afternoon.

Staff Change
It is with sadness that we will be farewelling Mrs. Jodi Atkinson during Term 3.  Jodi has been with us for the past two and a half years.  Jodi has been a wonderful teacher in Room 8 and she will be missed but an opportunity has come up that is too good for her to pass up and we wish her all the best.

Book Fair 2010
Thank you to all of our families who supported our book fair. It was wonderful to see the high level of interest and enthusiasm for reading new books. The book fair made to $3872.30, raising $774.46  for the school.  Thank you also to all of the many families who generously donated books to our school library.  We have placed a donation slip with your name in these new books to acknowledge you kind donations.

A big thanks also to those parents who supported our book fair by volunteering their time at the desk: Estell Potgeiter, Tanja Scott, Melanie Kennerley, Alison Pettigrew-Heeps, Jessie Charlton, Tania Saxon and Maria Skudder.  A very special thank you to Lisa Boyce-Bacon who co-ordinated our volunteers and helped out before and after school every day. You are a star Lisa!

Lost Property
The lost property bin is getting very full, if your child is missing clothing please come in or get your child to check it. At the end of term these items of clothing will be disposed of. It is always a lot easier if clothing is well named to be able to return them to the owners.

Spell-a-thon & Table-a-thon
Congratulations to the pupils listed below who achieved 100% in the Table-a-thon and Spell-a-thon.
Sarah Cappel, Will Ellett, Timothy Parkinson, Connor Borchert, Tayla Paulin-Smith, Simone Hill-Rennie, Zoe Millar.
Well done also to the pupils who had worked hard over the last few weeks and were proud of their overall results.
A reminder that the sponsorship form and money is due back by Tuesday 29 June. Thank you to all families for supporting this fundraiser as all money goes towards Outdoor Education in Term 4.

Sport
Congratulaions to Daniel Bayly, Rachel Edwards and Annette Pabla for making the North Counties Hockey Team. They will complete on the 24th (boys) and 25th (girls) of June. Good luck!

Security
Last night there was a break in at the school that without the fine work of our neighbours noticing our security lights going on could have resulted in a great deal of equipment being stolen.  However, police arrested the two people and they will appear in court today to charged with theft.  This has acted as a timely reminder for us all about the need to secure our property.  Recently, there has been an increase in the number of burglaries in the Karaka area and with the holidays only two weeks away there is an even greater need for vigilance.  The burglaries in the area have been during daylight with the thieves targeting flat screen t.v.s and laptops, and in sheds taking lawn-mowers, etc.
