Te Hihi School Agricultural Day
Saturday 29 September.
One of the main highlights on the school's calendar is our annual Agricultural Day. Traditionally the school's Ag Day replicated the district A&P Show with both an indoor section and animal section.
The animal section retains tradition and is an opportunity for children to celebrate their achievements in raising a chicken, lamb, kid goat or calf from being just a few days old. In the animal section children need to be able to talk about their animal, what challenges they've had raising it and showing how well they've bonded with the animal by leading it around a course in the show ring and calling it to them.
Please note, due to mycoplasma bovis there will not be a calf section for 2018
The day before Ag Day is given over to the children preparing indoor exhibits celebrating their skills in art and craft. Traditionally the exhibits were floral arrangements or linked in some way to food with either vegetable animals or baking.
Being held on a Saturday, the school welcomes wider family members and the community to come and have a great day with the children and their animals.
The links on this site to information about Ag Day will be updated regularly so please revisit this page often.
