PĀNUI | NEWSLETTER 03 JULY 2020

03 Jul 2020
Today we celebrate the end of what has been a very unusual term for all after experiencing lockdown and online learning due to Covid 19. I know we are all looking forward to actually having a break, some much deserved rest and time to recharge ready for term 3. With the cold weather we have had over the last couple of days it is nice to know that we are going into our winter break. Let's hope we get some nice fine weather over the next two weeks rather than a wintry blast.
We hope you all enjoy the break and if you are travelling that you travel safely. We look forward to seeing everyone back refreshed and ready for another busy term.
Hillary class made this awesome Matariki artwork this week. Together we made a collaborative Korowai cloak by each decorating a feather to add to the cloak. We also did some Māori pattern making to make a headband. We then each posed for a photo wearing the korowai coat. We pretended that we were looking up into the stars. Finally we then drew the seven stars of Matariki. One of the stars we made by weaving yellow wool. Hillary class can also sing the sevens stars of Matariki to the tune of the Macarena.
Back in March one of our students competed at the Auckland Athletics Track and Field Championships. Kayla came 2nd overall for her age group.
She placed:
60m-1st
100m-2nd
200m-2nd
Long Jump-3rd
Discus-10th
Shot Put-18th
This is a wonderful achievement with great results, and we want to congratulate her for this.
