Welcome Back To Term 4

It's great to see everyone back refreshed for yet another busy term, let hope we get to enjoy the whole term at school. We have lots of things happening this term so please make sure you check the school calendar for events.

This term we are having assemblies on odd weeks rather than even weeks to better fit in with other activities within the school. Therefore, the first assembly of the term is today and the next one will be on 30 October. Now that we are in Alert Level 1 we can invite parents back in for our assemblies. We do ask that you sign in if you are attending the assembly. We will have one of the Covid-19 sign-in sheets available to expedite the signing in process.

While we still have Covid-19 hanging over us, we will be maintaining our gate procedures. We don't want to be "that" school that didn't have good processes in place. Therefore, we ask that you continue to kiss and drop outside the school gate in the morning and collect your child from the gate after school.

Tomorrow is Election Day and as per usual, the school will be open as polling booth.

Finally, last weekend it was great to see Australian rugby return to a competitive level - let's just hope it's short-lived and the All Blacks put on an emphatic display.

School Closed Monday 26 October & Tuesday 27 October

School will be closed Monday 26 October for Labour Day and Tuesday 27 October for Teacher Only Day.  Hopefully the weather is good for us all to enjoy.  School starts back at the normal time on Wednesday 28 October.

Diversity Day

Date: Friday 30th October

In week four there will be a Diversity Day on Friday the 30th of October. This day is to express other cultures and embrace each other's differences. Diversity Day is when the students come to school dressed up in their cultural clothes. If you do not have any culturally influenced clothes to wear, we encourage you to bring a flag, come to school dressed in the colours of the flag or draw a picture of a culture you choose. We would like you to come dressed appropriately so we do not offend any cultures. It is appreciated if your children participate in this day, so the children of Te Hihi School understand each other's cultures and uniqueness.

Hera-May and Moeata.

Kereru Athletics

We had an amazing ‘Kereru Athletics Day’ on Wednesday. It was great to be able to

showcase our senior school, track and field talents. A big ‘thank you’ to all our parents and extended family who came along.

Students represented their houses and took part in the following events: 100m sprints,

200m and 400m runs, discus, shotput, high jump, long jump as well as an interhouse relay competition.

Well done to all students who demonstrated perseverance and personal excellence when taking part in these events.

We also use these sports as a qualifier for Year 5/6 North Counties Athletics which are being held on 10th November.
