Next Thursday 3rd December, we will be holding our annual school triathlon.
We are looking for parents who are able to help out on the day. Please let David Curtin know ASAP as we need marshals along Batty Rd as well as help with other tasks. firstname.lastname@example.org
Next Thursday 3th December at 12pm, we will be holding our annual school triathlon. The distances for the Kereru Syndicate are similar to those used in the Franklin School Triathlon and Sanitarium Kiwi Kids Triathlon.
Children riding bikes must have their bike delivered to school on Thursday morning by 10 am so it can undergo a roadworthiness test which will be carried out before Morning Tea. All running will be inside the school grounds as well the cycle leg for the Junior Syndicate. As the school car park forms part of our cycle lap, this will be closed. Parents will be able to park across Linwood Rd in Elliot Park.
Please note the Year 7&8 students will race first.

The weather wasn't the best for our Grandparent's afternoon on Tuesday but we were very happy to see a large number in attendance. This is always a very special time when students are proud to show what they have worked on in class and just having time with their grandparents. Below are a couple of photos from the afternoon.
A big thank you to the FoTHS parents that set up, served and cleaned up the delicious afternoon tea.
Friday 11 December - Starts at 10:30 am - 11-10am.
Every year we host a morning tea for all the wonderful parents that have helped over the year. This is a way to say thank you for doing things to enable our students to participate in activities they would not be able to do without this assistance.
If you are able to join us please RSVP to Janet at email@example.com or phone 2927706 by 9 December.
The uniform shop will be closed for 2020 on Friday 11 December.
The uniform shop will open for two hours from 9.00 am – 11.00 am on Friday 29 January 2020 before school starts back 2021.
They will also be open on Tuesday 2 February 2020 our first day of Term 1 from 8.15 am – 8.45 am.
If your child is leaving the school at the end of the term, we would love for you to donate any good pieces of uniform back to the school to be sold as second-hand uniforms. These can be left at the office.
The school has signed up for the Fonterra and Sanitarium's Kickstart Breakfast. Through this scheme the school receives free Weetbix and milk that we can give students.
We all know that when children are hungry they can't learn and we've noticed an increased number of students coming to school without breakfast or lunch. This scheme is open before school and at breaks to all students who need some extra food so their learning isn't affected.
If your child comes home and mentions that they had some Weetbix at school, please praise them for doing so even if you don't think they needed it. We don't want there to be any stigma for any child to take up this opportunity and praising your child for having some Weetbix at school will ensure there is no stigma attached to it.
The school pool is open.
Pool keys for out of school hours use are available for purchase from the school office now and until Friday, 11th December. No pool keys will be available for sale during the last week of school due to workload demands. The pool form is available at the school office.
We are pleased to advise that the Franklin Local Board has provided a grant for $2000.00 to assist Te Hihi School with the pool costs, including a contribution towards utility costs, chemicals and water testing. We are very grateful to the Franklin Local Board as the pool running costs are substantial.
Although the solar heating will be operating each day during the pool season, the BOT cannot guarantee the temperature will reach and retain its optimum level.
Access to the pool facilities is by way of a key. The price of the key for out of school hours swimming pool use by Te Hihi School families is set at $155.00 for the season with a bond of $50 for the key that will be refunded upon return of the key. Although we expect to have the season run through to the end of March 2020, the Board may extend or shorten the swimming pool season subject to weather. There is no variation on this set fee.
Access will only be possible between 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays, and between 3:00 - 6:30 p.m. school days. All access keys will be de-activated at the end of the season.
