On behalf of the staff of Te Hihi we wish to congratulate our wonderful principal Kevin Bush who today received an APPA Distinguished Fellowship Award. This special award acknowledges the many years of dedication and support Kevin has given to the APPA members and this is above and beyond his role as Principal of Te Hihi School. This is a fantastic achievement and we are so proud of Kevin’s accomplishment.
Yesterday we spent the day doing activities out of the classroom including team building games and sports games the children organised. A scavenger hunt the teachers organised was next on the cards. We then had some yummy afternoon tea and a swim in the school pool, we watched Matilda as we have just recently finished the book. Nachos was what was on the menu followed by a delicious ice cream dunked in sprinkles. Later it was bedtime and we woke this morning to another beautiful day full of activities including skits, survival skills and finished off with a SHINE assembly.
Thanks to all the parent help we received with the home baking and a special mention to Khara, Warren, Janine, Kelly, Sandra and Mrs Hood for spending the night with us.

Congratulations to the Te Hihi School community for raising a staggering $18,479.58 at Ag Day this year – the most we have ever raised!! The Board of Trustees and FoTHS are currently working through a plan for where the funds will be used and we will report back on this in the New Year. This is a tremendous result and one that we can all be very proud of.
Today an order form was sent home with the eldest and only students for the FoTHS Tea Towel fundraiser. These are a great gift or keepsake. Please complete the order form and send it back by Friday 22 November. All payments are to the FoTHS bank account, the number is on the form.
FoTHS are running their last Raffle for 2019 so help us make it a great one! There are some fabulous prizes to be won including 2 sports hampers filled with goodies and the book ‘Oh Boy’ signed by our very own Richard Taylor from Weta Workshop, the book ‘Oh Girl’ and cupcakes from Karaka Kitchen! A set of 10 raffle tickets will go home to each family at the start of next week. All tickets and money need to be back at school by Thursday 28th November, ready for the winners to be announced at our school assembly on Friday 29th November. Once again the family that sells the most tickets will win a special prize.
Pool keys for out of school hours use are available for purchase from the school office now and until Friday, 7th December. No pool keys will be available for sale during the last week of school due to workload demands. The pool form is available at the school office.
We are pleased to advise that the Franklin Local Board has provided a grant for $2000.00 to assist Te Hihi School with the pool costs, including a contribution towards utility costs, chemicals and water testing. We are very grateful to the Franklin Local Board as the pool running costs are substantial.
Although the solar heating will be operating each day during the pool season, the BOT cannot guarantee the temperature will reach and retain its optimum level.
Access to the pool facilities is by way of a key. The price of the key for out of school hours swimming pool use by Te Hihi School families is set at $155.00 for the season with a bond of $50 for the key that will be refunded upon return of the key. Although we expect to have the season run through to the end of March 2020, the Board may extend or shorten the swimming pool season subject to weather. There is no variation on this set fee.
Access will only be possible between 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays, and between 3:00 - 6:30 p.m. school days. All access keys will be de-activated at the end of the season.
Parent donations and fees must be paid in full before an access key can be issued or reactivated.
