About Gina White White
I’m Whaea Gina and I am the lucky teacher of Rutherford. This is my first year at Te Hihi School and I’m really excited to be teaching here. I have a background in science, numeracy and the arts, and I plan on incorporating my knowledge into the classroom by providing the Rutherford learners with lots of different learning activities. I have high expectations of these learners and believe together we can achieve great things.
Expectations: In Rutherford learners are expected to show the school motto at all times. Learners need to remember to bring their swimming gear every day. Homework will be provided each week, expectations will be shared at the start of each week and the homework is expected to be completed by Friday. Extension work will be provided for learners who are keen for extra, I will share links to these tasks with learners each week.
Our learning: In Rutherford we have been working on Numeracy skills around, statistics, decimals and fractions.
In Literacy we will be developing our narrative and descriptive writing skills, and cultural narratives in reading. IB is the main focus of our learning and we are working on understanding how culture and heritage differ according to one’s perspective. During this time we will highlight some important events in New Zealand history.
We have also been learning about health and wellbeing, with a focus on mindfulness. Much of our learning is done digitally, which means your child should be able to show you their work on Google drive as they are working on it.
Rutherford will also be working on digital technology with Mr Curtin and within class we will learn a little about Code and use a range of digital tools to assist with our learning
