Kia ora e te Hillary whānau,

We are back to our virtual classroom set up for another week of learning online. This week it will be a little different though.

We have an inquiry project we are wanting everyone to do this week which is an introduction into our new inquiry about recycling. The task is stepped out on the whiteboard with videos linked to the numbers at each step. These will further explain our inquiry and the tasks to complete each day. Each task is a separate day of learning except Step 1 and 2 which will tie together as an introduction and a task to begin with.

This project will tie together reading, writing and our inquiry work. There are links on the shelf on the wall, one to the exemplars and written instructions for the upcycling project, which you can use. We have also added links to some audio books and other inquiry related things in the classroom.

For maths we will be focusing on Geometry to start the term. This week we are looking at tangrams which are problem solving puzzles using 7 pieces to create shapes and pictures in a silhouette or outline. There are games linked to the image of a tangram on the shelf.

Whaea Deb will be taking some of our hui with Whaea Kate again and those groups are also attached here with our times. We will be using maths groups for these to be able to help with that understanding a little more.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us on our email blake-hillary@tehihi.school.nz and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

We hope to see you back at school soon, but in the meantime stay safe at home.

Ngā mihi,

Georgia and Kate
