Travel to and from school in

Bus Travel

The school buses will provide transport to and from school as normal and all bus drivers are fully vaccinated.

Mask wearing is compulsory for students in Year 4 and above who ride the school bus and strongly encouraged for all other students.

At the start of the day, students arriving by bus will be checked as they arrive for contact tracing purposes and staff will observe students on arrival checking for symptoms and ask those presenting as unwell to go to the sickbay where the office staff will arrange for parents and caregivers to come and pick up. Please note, this does not mean staff will be taking students' temperatures.

At the end of the day, bus students will come over to the bus area in their bus groups and will be checked off as the get onto the bus.

Once students are on the bus, the school has no ability to keep students separated.

Parents dropping off students

No students are to be dropped before 8:00 a.m.

Parents can park as normal in the carpark when dropping their children at school. Unless there is good reason,, we recommend parents either stay in or around their car as your children get out of the car. Staff members will be in the carpark to greet the students and assist where necessary.

Staff will observe students on arrival checking for symptoms and ask those presenting as unwell to either return to their car or go to the sickbay where the office staff will arrange for parents and caregivers to come and pick up. Please note, this does not mean staff will be taking students' temperatures.

Once out of the car, sanitiser will be available at the gate for students to sanitise their hands as they enter the school grounds. To keep students in each class separated, no students will be allowed to play in the playground before school.

Parents collecting students

All students must be picked up by 3:00 p.m.

At the end of the day students going home by car will make their way to the Batty Rd car park gate. All students in Year 4 and above must wear their mask and we will support any younger students who wish to wear their mask at this time. The staff will endeavour to maintain physical distancing between students but this may not always be possible. We encourage parents to remain by their car and staff will direct their children to them. Should parents want to come up to the gate, you must wear a mask.

Should you know that you are going to be late arriving for pick up, please call the office so your child's teachers can be informed.

After School Care

As indicated in the first pānui of the year, SKIDS has withdrawn their programme from Te Hihi School. Fortunately, we have been able to secure a new after school programme offered by Kids After School (KAS). More information about this service will come out via the pānui.
